The Seattle Storm was awarded the No. 4 pick in the upcoming 2024 WNBA Draft determined during today’s WNBA Draft Lottery.
The Storm’s No. 4 overall pick in the draft represents its highest draft pick since selecting first overall in 2016. Seattle, which came into the lottery with just a 10.4% chance of landing the top pick, makes its selection behind Indiana at No. 1, Los Angeles at No. 2, and Phoenix at No. 3. The WNBA Draft 2024 is currently scheduled to take place on Monday, April 15.
Seattle has never made a pick at No. 4 in the WNBA Draft, though the Storm briefly held the No. 4 pick in 2008 after trading with Atlanta, but would trade the pick to Detroit 13 days later.
“We are excited to have received the 4th pick in the 2024 WNBA draft as this will be a critical piece of the future of our team,” said Seattle Storm General Manager Talisa Rhea. “As we continue our off-season, ignited by Jewell’s commitment to stay in Seattle, we know this draft pick, coupled with our strategy in free agency, will be essential to building a roster ready to compete in the upcoming season.”
This is the fifth time the Storm have been in the draft lottery in 23 years under the lottery format. Seattle’s previous lottery results and picks have been:
