The Los Angeles Sparks have announced that Karlie Samuelson and Rae Burrell have been waived.

Samuelson’s most recent WNBA season was in 2022 with the Phoenix Mercury on a hardship contract. In 2021, she played with the Los Angeles Sparks where she started in three of 11 games played. She averaged 3.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and shot 47.8% from three-point range. She has played in 42 total WNBA games for the Los Angeles Sparks, Seattle Storm, Dallas Wings, and Phoenix Mercury.

Burrell was drafted with the 9th overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft by the Sparks. She appeared in three games for the Sparks, then missed the remainder of the 2022 regular season as she rehabbed from knee surgery in May 2022.

The Sparks tip-off the 2023 WNBA season on May 19 at Crypto.com Arena against the Phoenix Mercury at 8 pm PT on ESPN.
