Temple University Basketball Legend John Chaney Has Passed Away

Sad news in the world of basketball and the for the city of Philadelphia.

Former Temple University head coach John Chaney has passed away. During his time as the head basketball coach at Temple, Chaney led the Owls to 17 trips to the NCAA Tourney including 5 trips to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Coach Chaney also served as the head coach for HBCU Cheyney University where he won a Division II national championship.

Coach Chaney official retired in 2006. He will always be a legend in the world of sports for his dedication to impacting and changing the lives of young men. John Chaney will always be a legend in Philadelphia for his fierce spirit and bringing that Broad. St. Bully mentality to North Philadelphia.

May John Chaney rest in peace. He was 89 years old.
