Trae Young Talks Wanting His Own Signature Adidas Shoe During the 2018 NBA Summer League with TheseUrbanTimes (Throwback Thursday)

I’ve learned during my journey that good things truly happen to those who wait. That is certainly the case for Atlanta Hawks all-star Trae Young.

Trae Young has spent much of his “Young”, no pun intended, NBA career proving the doubters wrong by consistency growing on court all while “Puttin’ on for the City” of Atlanta as Jeezy would say. Trae’s hard work and dedication has earned him his own signature basketball shoe with Adidas the “Trae Young 1”.

For years, we have been covering the sneaker culture and its relationship to the NBA. Back in 2018 during the 2018 NBA Summer League, TheseUrbanTimes’ own Terrell Thomas caught up with Trae Young before Atlanta Hawks practice to speak with Trae Young on his relationship with Adidas and him wanting his own signature sneaker.

On Friday July 6, 2018, as the Atlanta Hawks shifted their NBA Summer League address from Salt Lake City, Utah to Las Vegas, I caught up with Hawks rookie Trae Young before the Hawks first Vegas practice.

“Hopefully….I gotta earn that. Those are big time. Everybody want their own shoe. Hope I will get mine”

Trae Young in 2018 on wanting his own Adidas signature shoe

Before Trae Young hit the practice court, we spoke on Trae’s Utah Summer League experience, his mental and physical mindstate and more. I spoke with Trae Young on his relationship with Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell, his favorite sneakers to play ball in, possibly having an Adidas signature shoe in the future and his love for the WNBA.
