Hawks Talon GC Finish ‘THE TIPOFF’ Group Play with 1-4 Record

Team’s Record Does Not Qualify for Bracket Play in Indianapolis

Last night, Hawks Talon GC, the official NBA 2K League Affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, wrapped up the group play portion of The TIPOFF Powered by AT&T. Hawks Talon Gaming finished group play with a 1-4 record, not earning enough points to qualify for bracket play, set to take place in Indianapolis beginning Weds., April 20. As part of this particular tournament, the top four teams in each of the league’s four divisions advance to the bracket play section of THE TIPOFF.

The sole Hawks Talon win came on Wednesday night against 76ers GC, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, by a score of 63-60. The win marked the first of Head Coach Ismael Diaz-Tolentino’s career. Leading the way for Hawks Talon was Caesar Martinez (CEEZ) who finished with 15 points and 10 assists. The team finished with losses to Celtics Crossover Gaming on April 5, Wizards District Gaming on April 6, Gen. G Tigers on April 8, and Heat Check Gaming on Thursday night.

“Our goal for the season was to build a sustainable, winning culture while emphasizing on player development,” said Diaz-Tolentino. “This remains true to this day, and I am proud of the growth and fight that our guys displayed during the first five games of the season.”

Next up for Hawks Talon is participation in THE SLAM, the first 3-on-3 tournament in NBA 2K League history that will also feature amateur teams. Group play for THE SLAM begins Tuesday, April 26, and the exact matchups and schedule will be announced by the NBA 2K League at a later date.
