Freddie Freeman was one of four Braves players, himself, Touki Toussaint, Will Smith and Pete Kozma, to test positive for COVID-19 when camp opened up.

Today, Freeman was seen in uniform along with Toussaint at Truist Park. Braves manager, Brian Snitker, has yet to rule out Freeman being able to rejoin his team for opening day.

“I’m sure at some point if he doesn’t get in here, we’ll have to talk about that,” Snitker says.

Freeman will need 2 consecutive negative tests before he will be able to fully rejoin his teammates. The season will begin in 7 days so the window for him to complete both tests and get back into form is slim.

Earlier at the beginning of Spring Training, Freeman was held out due to elbow inflammation. The inflammation is thought to be from the surgery he had in the offseason to remove some loose bodies and clean up multiple bone spur formations.

The Braves’ lineup will definitely need Freeman, especially after the signing of slugger Yasiel Puig fell through. Many people, including myself, think it may be best to ease him back into the fold and not risk any long term effects.
