MLB Will Use Fake Crowd Noise in Ballparks

To the pleasure of baseball fans everywhere, the season will go on. As we know, the MLB and MLBPA came to an agreement of a 60 game regular season that will start July 23rd and end September 27th. There will be something missing from the usual this season…. The Fans!

There will be no fans at these 60 games due to the current pandemic but the MLB may have a fix for that. That fix will come from the help of popular baseball video game, MLB The Show. The MLB plans to pump fake crowd noise into their stadiums to simulate the feeling of a real baseball game.

Sound engineers at each stadium will have access to about 75 different sounds and crowd reactions. So we can expect cheers for the home teams when they make a big play and of course booing for the visitors. Clutch moments can still bring you chills from the sound of erupting crowd. Just a little less heckling here and there.

Now this idea isn’t totally new to sports as The Premier League and La Liga, two European soccer leagues, started using crowd sounds from EA Sports’ own FIFA video game.

I’m sure it will take some adjusting to from us the fans and the players. Hopefully this can help keep some semblance of normalcy in this day and age of sports.
