Lola Brooke Links with Billy B for Their New Summer Single “Don’t Play With It”

Just as the streets of New York City are warming back up, Lola Brooke returns with some heat proving that she intends to continue her onslaught on airwaves and streaming platforms, as she jockeys for position as the City’s next rap superstar. Today, the petite powerhouse delivers her second single of the year, “Don’t Play With It,” complete with a video that perfectly captures the Brooklyn energy that fuels her.

“Don’t Play With It” finds Lola once again showcasing the versatility of her voice as an instrument. Backed by sting-driven production by multi-platinum producer Dizzy Banko (Pop Smoke, Dream Doll, Pardison Fontaine), she delivers expertly crafted bars in a tone that is both menacing and soothing; drawing listeners in, but making it clear that she is a force to be reckoned with. Newcomer and fellow Brooklynite Billy B comes through with the same level of playful intensity, embodying both girl-next-door and protector of the block vibes. This powerful duo’s chemistry is as apparent on the track as it is on the screen, and fans are bound to want to hear more collaborations in the future.

Through the challenges of 2020, Lola Brooke’s steady flow of releases and charismatic personality helped her to continue to grow her fanbase. The outcome was a total of close to 700k streams across 91 countries, on Spotify alone; a figure strongly boosted by her final release of the year, November’s “My Bop.” Her previous 2021 release, “Back 2 Business” has become a favorite among TikTokers as it continues to grow the 718 Princess’ following. As with several of her previous releases, the single also caught the attention of the press, several of her music industry peers and even some of the OGs who have inspired Lola over the years: Snoop Dogg was so impressed by “Back 2 Business” that he shared it on his InstaStories, heaping on heavy praise for both the song and the artist behind it.
