Everyday Is a Celebration of “Black Business Month” at The Home Depot Backyard

Black Business Month is honored in the month August, paying homage and showing support to Black Businesses across the United States as we continue to strive toward diversity and equality.

Although we highlight Black Businesses during this month, here in Atlanta, GA one company/venue takes every opportunity they can to support and promote black entrepreneurs, and black businesses.

Sports loving in Atlanta many be familiar with the Home Depot Backyard located at Mercedes-Benz Stadium because of the tailgating that takes place before every Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United home game. Many may not know that the Home Depot Backyard serves as much more than a pregame party spot for the Falcons and United. For years now, the Home Depot Backyard has been using its space to highlight Black Businesses and events curated by Black entrepreneurs.

The Home Depot Backyard offers community programming on a weekly/monthly basis, which is FREE and focuses on three areas: Health & Wellness, Arts & Culture, and Inspired Learning.

Almost all (approx. 75%) of their community programming partners are Black-owned Atlanta-based small businesses & entrepreneurs. This is was done with intentionality as the Home Depot Backyard one, wanted their programming to be a representation of the people we serve on Atlanta’s westside and, two, it’s a reflection of the synergy between the Home Depot Backyard and their partners to provide affordable (free) & unique resources to the Atlanta community.

From Hip-Hop Yoga, Paint and Sip, Enervibes Dance Fit, A Glass Full Of Health, and many other activities and activations, the Home Depot Backyard has made a conscious effort to giveback in a major way to Black Businesses.

Checkout a few event held at the Home Depot Backyard, and stay tuned as we begin to highlight each of these Businesses in the month of September.
