Projected 1st-Round Pick Opts Out of 2020 CFB Season

Virginia Tech cornerback, Caleb Farley, has become the second college football player to sit out the upcoming NCAA football season.

Farley lost his mother to illness in 2018 and thought playing this season would be too much of a risk to his family and loved ones.

“Thought the competitor in me badly wants to play this season, I cannot ignore what’s going on in my heart and I must make the decision that brings me the most peace” Farley explained.

Farley is coming off an impressive redshirt sophomore season where he was named first-team All-ACC. He finished with a conference-high 16 passes defended.According to multiple draft boards he was one of, if not THE, top corner in the 2021 draft class.

This could be the start of a run of top players in the nation opting out of the season.
