Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast Wins Nine Southeast Emmy Awards

Networks’ nine wins match most since 1995

Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast were honored with nine Southeast Regional Emmy Awards from the Southeast chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Saturday, June 17 at the Grand Hyatt ballroom in Atlanta.

The nine wins tied for the second most in network history with 2009 and 2011. Bally Sports South received a record 29 nominations across 15 categories this year.

“Bally Sports is honored to be recognized by the Academy in nine categories and very proud of the work of so many to make our Braves and Hawks telecasts the best in the business,” said Jeff Genthner, Senior Vice President, General Manager of Bally Sports South. “Congratulations to the many award honorees and nominees at Bally Sports and to all the EMMY Award winners at last night’s ceremonies.”

Four Bally Sports broadcasters were recognized with individual awards. Braves LIVE and Hawks LIVE host Treavor Scales earned his first regional Emmy award for Talent – Program Host/Moderator/Correspondent. Braves LIVE analyst Nick Green was awarded an Emmy for Talent – Sports Analyst, Braves reporter/analyst Paul Byrd for Talent – Reporter – Sports and Chip Caray for Talent – Sports Play-by-Play as the voice of the Braves in 2022.

Two individuals who help make Hawks and Braves production a success on a nightly basis earned Southeast Emmy Awards. Jil Gossard-Cook earned an Emmy for Live Sports Producer for her work on Hawks telecasts. Esther Summersill won in the Director – Sports category for her work on Braves LIVE and Hawks LIVE.

Bally Sports’ first Southeast Emmy Award of the night was for Sports Program – Live – Single Program. The winner was Braves LIVE – World Champions Opening Night with Kevin AllisonStephen DailyRick Soltys and David Cason being honored.

The original content team for Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast won two Southeast Emmy Awards. The networks’ Hank Aaron Week content series for Braves won in the category Sports Program – Live – Series for a second straight year with Christina AtkinsGregg TherieauConnor Delprete and Esther Summersill being recognized.

A five-part conversation series titled Nique and JC: Crossover featured Hawks forward John Collins interviewing Hawks analyst Dominique Wilkins earned the Emmy for Sports Interview/Discussion – Single Program. Individuals earning the Emmy included Esther SummersillChristina AtkinsJil Gossard-Cook and Gregg Therieau
