Aaron Ross Talks His Wife Sanya Richards-Ross’ Success, Jalen Hurt Being His NFL MVP, the Most Difficult Person to Cover During His Career & More

On Friday December 16th, ESSENCE hosted the ‘ESSENCE Black Women in Sports Awards Brunch’ as part of the Celebration Bowl at the Westside Cultural Arts Center in Atlanta. 

Hosted by ESPN anchor Elle Duncan, the ESSENCE Black Women in Sports Awards Brunch was in partnership with Coca-Cola to spotlight and honor leading women in the sports industry, both professional and collegiate. 

During the event, Sanya Richards-Ross (former Jamaican-American track & field athlete who’s a two-time Olympic champion and two-time Olympic medalist), Sonja Stills (the first female commissioner in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and the first female commissioner of a Division I HBCU Conference) and the Delaware State University Lacrosse Team (who overcame adversity as a result of the aftermath due to their recent unjust traffic stop in Georgia) were all honored.

Following the award ceremonies, TUT’s Terrell Thomas caught up with former NFL star defensive back Aaron Ross to discuss the importance of the ‘ESSENCE Black Women in Sports Awards Brunch’ and more. 

Aaron Ross spoke with Terrell Thomas about honoring Black Women in Sports, his wife Sanya Richards-Ross being honored by ESSENCE, the new look 2022 New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts being his NFL MVP, who was the most difficult person for him to cover during his playing days in the NFL and more.
