Ramond/Unwrapt Music Release ‘Black Sands’ Visual in Celebration of Black History Month

Ramond (pronounced Ruh-Mond), in conjunction with Unwrapt Music (www.unwraptmusic.com), recently filmed three live visuals for songs off of 2019’s Black Sands Official Soundtrack at the Historic Rossonian Hotel in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. The video was released today (2-1-21) to celebrate February’s Black History Month.

In December of 2019, Ramond was hand-selected to Executive Produce the official soundtrack for the Black Sands Entertainment animated DVD. The 13-track album, released in December 2019, consists of 95% Denver-based artists, musicians, producers and engineers.

Black Sands Entertainment (www.blacksandsentertainment.com) is a black-owned production and publishing company, based in Brooklyn, NY, that focuses on Pan-Africanism and Kemetic lore for children of all ages. The brand was launched in 2016 to fill a void in the comic book community that lacks diversity in its production, characters, and storytelling.
Unwrapt Music, the live, takeaway music series in Colorado, produced the live visuals for three of the soundtracks’ most popular tracks, “Reign” featuring Kid Astronaut and J Loryn, “Bright Side” featuring Champ and Sydnie Battie and “Gladiators” featuring A Meazy.

The Rossonian Hotel is one of the most iconic and important buildings in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. In 1929, the hotel was renamed the Rossonian Hotel and it’s lounge acquired a reputation as the best jazz club between the Midwest and the West Coast, with performances by jazz greats such as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday and Count Basie, to name a few. After the 1960’s, as Denver’s African American population left Five Points, the hotel and lounge declined. A certified landmark, the 21,000 square-foot building is in the process of being restored while also maintaining its rich heritage.

Ramond continues to align himself with projects that pay tribute and lift up his culture and his people. “The opportunity with Unwrapt Music to film these specific visuals, that mean so much to me on a personal level, within the walls of such a powerful and important venue and in the same place where some of the all-time greats performed is the honor of all honors” Ramond said.

The Black Sands Soundtrack is available on all digital music platforms and hard copies of the DVD/soundtrack are available for purchase at www.blacksandsentertainment.com.
