The Los Angeles Sparks announced today the signing of guard Karlie Samuelson to a training camp contract.

“Karlie is having a phenomenal season in Australia and continues to expand her game,” said Sparks CAO & GM Karen Bryant. “We are excited to bring her back to the Sparks.”

Samuelson, who is currently playing in the WNBL for the first-place Townsville Fire, is having a 50/40/90 season, shooting 55.3% from the floor, 48.1% from deep and 94.4% from the free throw line. The Stanford graduate is averaging 13.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 0.8 steals in her 18 games played.

“Karlie is a relentless and fearless competitor,” said Head Coach Curt Miller. “She is an outstanding shooter who can provide needed spacing and is an underrated and pesky defender.”

The Orange County, CA native returns for her fourth stint with the Sparks, first joining the team in the 2018 season where she played in 20 games. Samuelson holds career averages of 2.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.3 steals per game in 42 total games for Los Angeles, Dallas, Seattle and Phoenix.

“I’m very excited to re-join the Sparks organization,” said Samuelson. “Playing at home is always a dream and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a historic team in the WNBA. I’m looking forward to training camp.”
