“We’re really happy that Brittney Sykes is choosing to remain a key part of the LA Sparks family,” General Manager/Head Coach Derek Fisher said. “Brittney brings tremendous energy to the game of basketball and to our organization. She’s shown an ability throughout her career to be a two-way perimeter player that puts her stamp on the game in several ways. Our entire staff is excited to work with her moving forward.”

Sykes, who attended Syracuse University, was drafted No. 7 overall in the 2017 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream and made the 2017 All-Rookie Team. She played for the Dream from 2017-2019 before the Sparks acquired her prior to the 2020 season in a trade that sent Kalani Brown to Atlanta in exchange for Sykes and Marie Gülich. For her career, she’s averaged 11.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 24.2 minutes per game.

“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to continue my career with the LA Sparks,” Sykes said. “Thank you to the ownership group, coaching staff and my teammates for the love and support given. I’m really excited to be back with the Sparks family and compete.”

Sykes is currently playing overseas in Turkey for OGM Ormanspor where’s she’s averaging 15.1 points on 47% shooting and 1.1 steals per game in league play.
