Cheyenne Parker Signs Multi-Year Deal with Atlanta

The Atlanta Dream has signed free agent forward Cheyenne Parker to a multi-year contract, the organization announced Monday.

Per team policy, contract details were not released.

Parker, a 6-4 forward who has spent her first six seasons in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky, is coming off a career year in 2020. She is averaging career-high numbers across the board with 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game, starting 13 of the 20 games she played. Parker also shot an impressive 45.9% from distance and 55.4% from the field, good for fifth overall in the league.

“We targeted Cheyenne for two reasons: one, her ability to finish at the rim, and two, her ability to knock down the three.” said head coach Nicki Collen. “Cheyenne has shown growth in her game year after year and we believe will only continue to get better. Her toughness, desire to compete, and her joyful attitude will only strengthen our roster. I’m thrilled she chose Atlanta. “

Parker also ranked third in the league with a 12.0% offensive rebound percentage, fourth with a 65.1% true shooting percentage and fifth with a 59.7% effective field goal percentage last season.

“I’m super excited about joining the Dream,” Parker said. “I’m ready to build and grow my game, and I’m really ready for this new chapter in my life. I’m looking forward to playing with some really amazing athletes, I know a lot of the girls already so I’m excited to play with them and build those relationships and team chemistry that I know we’ll have. The Dream has endless potential and I’m excited to be a part of that and to help continue to build the legacy of Atlanta.”

Drafted No. 5 overall in the 2015 WNBA Draft by the Sky out of Middle Tennessee State, Parker has developed into one of the most consistent forwards in the league. She posted four 20-point performances for the Sky last season, and led Chicago in rebounds per game.

“Cheyenne brings a wealth of experience, energy and passion to Atlanta,” said Dream President and General Manager Chris Sienko. “There is no doubt our fans will see an instant impact from her presence on the court and in the community.”

Parker has been playing for Basket Lattes Montpellier Agglomeration (BLMA) in France this offseason, where she has averaged 17.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Off the court, Parker is active in the community with a passion for working with children and participating in clinics. She has recently taken up painting and has a real interest in art.
