Atlanta Dream rookie Chennedy Carter has capped off a great rookie season with one of the highest awards in the land.
Atlanta Dream guard Chennedy Carter was named to the 2020 WNBA All-Rookie Team, the league announced on Sunday.
Carter led all rookies and ranked eighth in the league averaging a team-high 17.4 points per game, and ranked third among rookies in both assists (3.4 per game) and steals (0.9 per game).
At 21 years old and 266 days, Carter became the youngest player in WNBA history to score at least 30 points in a game when she tallied 35 points against Seattle on August 6, setting the record for the most points scored in a single game by a Dream rookie.
Carter was a unanimous selection to the All-Rookie Team, receiving the maximum 11 votes from a panel of the WNBA’s 12 head coaches, who each selected five players regardless of position and were not permitted to vote for players on their own team.
Despite being sidelined for six games with an ankle injury, the 5-9 guard started all 16 games in which she played and recorded at least 20 points in eight contests
Selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft, Carter was the Dream’s highest draft pick since Angel McCoughtry went to Atlanta with the No. 1 overall pick in 2009.
