Atlanta Dream Acquire Yvonne Turner From Phoenix

The Atlanta Dream have acquired guard Yvonne Turner from the Phoenix Mercury in a trade for a 2022 WNBA Draft third round pick, the organization announced Saturday.

“We are happy to welcome Vonnie to the ATL,” head coach Nicki Collen said. “We need point guard depth and feel her combination of speed and skill are a good fit with our current roster. Vonnie’s long path to the WNBA is a testament to her work ethic and love for the game, and we are excited to add her veteran presence to our back court.”

Turner, a 5-10 guard out of Nebraska, averaged 6.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 2019 with the Mercury, improving in every statistical category from her previous two seasons. She missed the 2020 season due to a knee injury suffered overseas. Prior to signing with Phoenix in 2017, Turner played abroad in Hungary, Australia, Germany, Russia, Ecuador, Turkey, Spain and Poland.

Currently playing for Glammes Carolo in the France, Turner is averaging 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in three Eurocup games.  Before signing with Phoenix, she played with Uniqa Sopron in Hungary, where she led the EuroLeague in scoring during the 2016-17 season at 18.8 points per game. She also finished as one of only two players in the EuroLeague to rank in the top-10 in both scoring and assists per game (5.1), while also ranking in the top-10 in steals per game (2.0).
