NBA Star Wendell Carter Jr. Hosting 3rd Annual Basketball Camp to Benefit A Platform2 Foundation

Atlanta-native hosting FREE camp to teach hoop skills as well as provide financial literacy education

Orlando Magic playmaker Wendell Carter Jr. is hosting his 3rd Annual Basketball Camp to benefit the A Platform2 Foundation. The Atlanta native is hosting 8th – 12th grade players on Saturday, June 1 from 8am – 4pm. Held at Whitefield Academy (1 Whitefield Dr., SE, Smyrna), these student-athletes will interact in basketball workouts and drills. Additionally, Carter has them participate in classroom education programs on financial literacy.

Youth in the 8th – 12th grades are invited to participate in the free camp. Players must register online at www.aplatformsquared.com to secure a reservation.

Carter, who recently completed his sixth NBA season, launched A Platform2 Foundation to provide youth and families with educational programs, resources, and tools that positively impact and elevate their quality of life. The financial literacy educational program taught during the camp will be led by Country Financial’s Jonavon Stephens.

“I understand the kind of impact a single individual can make in the lives of young people,” said Carter. “The time is now to leverage my platform to make a difference. Children that look like me do not always have access to certain resources and opportunities, and I want to help them achieve their dreams. That’s why it was important to me that I include education in my basketball camps.”

Carter’s parents instilled community and helping others, which is why it was so important to him to establish the A Platform2 Foundation once he was drafted into the NBA. During his one season playing collegiate basketball at Duke University, he was a unanimous selection to the ACC All-Freshman team. In 2018, Carter was selected with the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Bulls.  His second year in the NBA he was chosen to the NBA All-Star Rising Stars team. Bleacher Report named Carter a Top 10 21 & Under NBA Player in 2021.

Among the major partners for this year’s basketball camp include Country Financial, Lemon Perfect, Advanthealth, and Orlando Magic. For more information, registration and sponsorship forms, please visit www.aplatformsquared.org or email info@aplatformsquared.org.

A Platform2 Foundation is a Fiscally Sponsored Program of Athletes Charitable, a division of United Charitable, a registered 501(c)3.
