On Saturday June 26th, the Boxing world was focused on the city of Atlanta as Gervonta Davis and Mario Barrios squared off for the WBA Super Lightweight World Title at State Farm Arena.

In the Davis vs. Barrios bout we witnesses four-time world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis set his sights on capturing a title in a third weight class has he faced undefeated WBA Super Lightweight Champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios in a SHOWTIME PPV main event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

“I can’t compare myself to all the greats just yet. You know this man [Floyd] set the tone. I’m just following in his footsteps. So thank you for guiding me the right way, Floyd. I appreciate you. I’m thankful to be in the position. Atlanta, we did it! Baltimore, we did it!

Tank Davis on Winning the Bout vs. Barrios

In what was a thrilling boxing match, Baltimore native Gervonta “Tank” Davis picked up a TKO11, 11th round TKO against Mario Barrios. This was easily one of the best matches I’ve witnessed in some time.

Davis and Barrios entertained the crowd from the beginning of the first round. Both Davis and Barrios seemed to be studying each through the first two rounds but in round three we saw the gloves start flying.

The match swayed Davis’ way in the eighth round. Tank Davis caught Barrios with a blow that knocked him down and from that point on, Gervonta Davis had the momentum on his side. In the eleventh round, Davis picked up the TKO after knocking Barrios now several times.

“I knew he was hurt. I just had to catch him at the right time. Floyd [Mayweather] came to me and was honest and said I was down. I knew I was down. So he said show me that you’re great. And you know how we do it in the doghouse, baby!
