Atlanta’s Own Frankie Freeman Crowned Champion of Red Bull Dance Your Style Charlotte Competition

Following an incredible win at the Red Bull Dance Your Style Charlotte regional qualifier, Frankie Freeman will move on to compete in the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Finals in Chicago on May 20th

Red Bull Dance Your Style, the all-styles global dance competition, rounded out its 2023 U.S. qualifiers in Charlotte, NC, for the first time, on Saturday, May 6th. Blackbox Theater was bursting with energy as electrifying performances from the best dancers in Queen City and beyond, including the mesmerizing Leo RA SoulJDUNNSuzieQHermiz and more, captivated the audience with their explosive moves and unmatched passion for dance.

Following a single-elimination, 16-bracket tournament, the crowd voted Frankie Freeman as the winner of the Red Bull Dance Your Style Charlotte qualifier, beating out Leo RA Soul after three captivating rounds. Frankie will go on to compete at the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final in Chicago.

Red Bull Dance Your Style is an international, all-styles dance competition with a unique battle format. Inviting top dancers of all backgrounds to battle 1:1, the competition challenges dancers to ‘wow’ the crowd and ultimately win their vote. With no panel of judges, no planned choreography, and no pre-selected music, Red Bull Dance Your Style tests freestyle and musicality skills, and the crowd decides who rules the dance floor.

The 2023 U.S. Red Bull Dance Your Style season will culminate with the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final on May 20th – in Chicago for the first time in competition history. The winner of the National Final will go on to represent the U.S. at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final happening November 4th in Frankfurt, Germany.

Frankie Freeman has been a professional dancer for 10 years. Throughout her career she has had the opportunity to perform with artists on tour, participate in TV & film, teach dance across the country, choreograph, and was also a superhero in the recent DC Film, Black Adam.

“I had to really dig into my little Mary Poppins bag and pull out all the unlimited things,” said Freeman following the triumph. “I had a lot of wonderful opponents that I feel like were pushing me to give the best exchange they we could give each other. I feel really good – I’m happy.”

Freeman defeated Leo RA Soul, who won last year’s Red Bull Dance Your Style competition in Atlanta, to capture the victory.

“My favorite – this is my favorite format,” said Freeman of the crowd determining the winner. “Some people don’t like it and like the traditional judges. I love having the audience as the judge.”

Ohavia and Xtra were hosts for the evening, with DJ Micki Blendz curating quality vibes and setting the tone for an unreal competition. The event featured additional incredible performances from the Hip Hop Ballet and Demi-Pointe Showcase and rapper, Frenchiee
