Tough news for the Atlanta Hawks and their star forward DeAndre Hunter.

The Atlanta Hawks announced on Sunday evening that forward/guard DeAndre Hunter would miss approximately eight weeks due to a wrist injury.

According to the Hawks,

Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter suffered a right wrist injury during the Hawks’ game at Golden State on Nov. 8. An MRI taken Saturday at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex revealed a tendon injury that will require surgery. Dr. Steven Shin will perform Hunter’s surgery today (Nov.15th) in Los Angeles. He is expected to return in approximately eight weeks.

To start the season, DeAndre Hunter was averaging nearly 11 points per game (10.8) and he was shooting nearly 40% percent from three-point land (39.5%). If Hunter’s rehab goes as currently planned, he should return to the Hawks lineup somewhere in mid-January 2022.
