Deante’ Hitchcock Drops “I Got Money Now” (Video)

“Remember they told me that I wouldn’t get it and I went and got it,” Deante’ Hitchcock raps at the beginning of the BETTER album standout track, “I Got Money Now.” And in the video for it, Deante’ shows how he chased the bag: a pastor cribbing from the collection plate, a postal worker sick of delivering heavy packages, a robber planning a stickup, a divorce lawyer presenting evidence of infidelity, and a college student trying to finesse a check after getting hit by a car.

The honesty of his lyrics juxtaposed by the feel good nature of the video shows Deante’s artistry, he’s a master at flipping pain into joy.

“I Got Money Now” (which features an appearance from JID in the audio version) is the latest video from BETTER, Deante’ Hitchcock’s debut album, following the Complex-premiered “Attitude” ft. Young Nudy and “How TF” ft. 6LACK (1.1 million views). After years of building a fanbase with quality singles and exhilarating live performances, Deante’s new album BETTER boasts reflective and spiritual jams like “Flashbacks” and “Growing Up/Mother God” with dirty south stompers like “Gimme Your Money.” Deante’ is an unflappable tour guide through the recesses of his mind, painting a picture of a young man trying tirelessly to become a better man.
