Grammy Award-nominated triple threat entertainer Mario releases his newest EP Closer To Mars. The new five track project drop comes accompanied by his latest video “Pretty Mouth Magick,” a sensual piece that will leave viewers not wanting to leave their own bedroom.
“I’m excited about this project, but I’m more excited about the journey that I’m on right now as an artist. I recently found out that the name “Mario” actually means Mars in Latin and this current time period that we’re in is the closest our planet has been to Mars in over 20 years, so it just amazes me as to how my intentions match the times we are in. I’ve always used metaphors and creative phrases in my lyrical expression.
Now I’m beginning to dive deeper into the cinematic and directorial part of my expression. I co-directed both “Mars” and “Pretty Mouth Magick,” and I hope the world enjoys them.” – Mario.
A project which was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as out of respect for the injustices around the country, Closer To Mars was polished and perfected delivering a hybrid of current R&B waves mixed with that feel good music with a message that we all fell in love with in earlier years. Lead singles “Pretty Mouth Magic” and “Mars” exemplify that pure tone and multi-dimensional sound that has kept the Baltimore native as a leader in the genre for decades.
The videos for both, co-directed by Mario and Sterling Hampton, are out of this world visuals filled with artistry, sensuality and dance. Moved by this year’s roller coaster ride of events, Mario found the importance in finding himself and he encourages listeners to do the same as he ensures that his music continues to be a reflection of his authenticity.
